Research context
Kisspeptin-10 is the biologically active C-terminal decapeptide fragment of the full-length kisspeptin (metastin). It acts on the GPR54 (KISS1R) receptor in the hypothalamus to stimulate GnRH neuron firing, triggering the entire reproductive hormone cascade. Research has demonstrated Kisspeptin-10 potently stimulates LH and FSH secretion, with applications in fertility research, puberty onset studies, and as a diagnostic tool for reproductive disorders. It uniquely provides a more physiological gonadotropin stimulus compared to direct GnRH administration.
